Oops… Did You Miss the OnlyFans Tax Deadline? 😬
The 5 October Self Assessment registration deadline has just passed. If your OnlyFans or creator income pushed you over the relevant threshold during 2025/26, you may have needed to tell HMRC by now. Don’t panic — here’s what the deadline means, who needs to register and what to do if you’ve missed it.

“Hi! Just checking… are you earning money from OnlyFans?” 😂
Oops… Did You Miss the OnlyFans Tax Deadline? 😬
There are two types of people in the world: those who knew 5 October was an important tax date… and those who are currently thinking, “Wait… what happened on 5 October?” 👀
If you earn money from OnlyFans, content creation or another side hustle, the date may be more important than you realised. 5 October 2026 has just passed — and for some creators, it was the deadline to register for Self Assessment if they first went over the relevant threshold during the 2025/26 tax year. Cue the mild panic. 😬
But before you start imagining HMRC helicopters circling your house, take a breath. Missing a registration deadline doesn't automatically mean you've done something terrible. The important thing is to work out whether you actually needed to register in the first place and, if you did, what you need to do now.
If your creator income is more than £1,000 before allowable expenses and you're operating as a sole trader, you may need to register for Self Assessment. And “creator income” isn't necessarily just your OnlyFans subscriptions. Tips, messages, pay-per-view content, collaborations and other income can all form part of the bigger picture. This is also where things can get confusing.
The money arriving in your bank account isn't necessarily the same as your taxable profit. You may have legitimate business expenses to consider, and the way your income is calculated matters. And perhaps the biggest mistake is assuming that because nobody has contacted you, everything must be fine.
HMRC isn't necessarily going to send you a message saying: “Hi! Just checking… are you earning money from OnlyFans?” 😂
It's your responsibility to understand whether you need to register and report your income. So, if 5 October passed and you're now wondering whether you should have done something, don't bury your head in the sand. Check. Ask questions. Get your figures together.
And if you've missed something, deal with it rather than hoping it disappears. Because when it comes to tax, in our countless years of experience, ignoring the problem rarely makes it smaller. And no, “I thought OnlyFans sorted the tax” probably isn't going to be the answer HMRC was hoping for. 😉
If you're a creator and you're not sure where you stand, getting proper advice early can make the whole thing considerably less stressful.
OnlyFans income. Real tax advice. No judgement.
